Before she became the true fashion darling and red-headed raven she is today, the emerging artist was finding her pop-star style — and a specific on-stage look set her on the right track.

Lipa opened the 2018 Brit Awards in a Versace Spring 2018 leotard boasting a baroque aquatic print with a matching jacket and golden waist chain. Fishnets and Adidas sneakers completed the ensemble and accommodated her high-energy performance. It was a departure from her previous looks (baggy sweats, cargo pants and neon bras), and marked the beginning of her collaboration with Donatella Versace: The designer told CNN last year that the moment sparked her desire to work with Lipa.
