The Great British Bake Off has landed in a bit of hot water after receiving a number of complaints over Noel Fielding's jokes. On last week's quarter final, the co-presenter used a wooden spoon with a face drawn on it as a prop, naming it 'Mr. Spoon'. He then went up to contestant Peter Sawkins and asked if he liked Mr. Spoon, to which Peter said that he did.

"You do? He wants to kiss you," Noel replied. "Mr. Spoon says he wants to see Peter naked."

Later on, Noel also joked about making a "nude sculpture of Paul Hollywood" with "lime" flavored nipples. Ofcom has since confirmed that it has received 37 complaints over the jokes, with a spokesperson saying (via The Sun): "The complaints were about sexual references made by Noel Fielding."

This isn't the first time that Bake Off has sparked controversy this series, with a sketch using prosthetic hands to poke fun at Paul Hollywood's handshakes receiving 16 complaints. 47 people also complained about rainbow bagels that were made, while the series opener featuring Matt Lucas impersonating Boris Johnson received 181 complaints.

Meanwhile, Bake Off contestant Hermine has responded to a recent trolling backlash following the series' semi-final this week.

The Great British Bake Off airs on Tuesdays at 8pm on Channel 4. In the US, it's known as The Great British Baking Show, with new episodes debuting every Friday on Netflix. Bake Off: An Extra Slice, hosted by Jo Brand and Tom Allen, airs every Friday at 8pm on Channel 4.
