Grab your sugar and flour. The Great British Baking Show just dropped the first episode from season 11 on Netflix last week, and it is bringing all the cute British quips, creamy whips, and cozy contests that made it famous in the first place. And based on how excited the show's fans are for the single available episode, this wholesome baking competition might as well be a blockbuster thriller.

If you haven't yet entered the tent, allow me to explain. The Great British Baking Show, or if you're an OG fan, The Great British Bake Off (as it's called in the U.K.) asks several amateur bakers to compete in intense and very British baking competitions.

The contest lasts 10 weeks, and each episode includes several rounds of challenges. The show features seasoned judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, as well as host Noel Fielding. Plus, this season also introduces a new co-host, Alison Hammond.

If you just can't wait to dive into this sweet season, here's everything you need to know about The Great British Baking Show season 11, plus the full episode release schedule.

Who is the new host of The Great British Baking Show?

Alison Hammond joins the show this season as co-host, and will cheer the bakers on alongside Noel Fielding (replacing Matt Lucas). TBH, Alison is already fitting in seamlessly with the rest of the cast. She was born for a bake off.

BTW, this isn't Alison's first time featured on the show. She competed as a contestant in the The Great British Bake Off charity special in 2020, per Bon Appetit. She's also a well-seasoned comedian and reality television star. In addition to her GBBO appearance, she's starred in Big Brother, the U.K.'s Strictly Come Dancing, and Loose Women, per Bon Appetit.

Alison is also a BAFTA-nominated television presenter, according to her Instagram bio, and she's a published author. She released a memoir, You've Got To Laugh, in 2021.

What happened to Matt Lucas?

Alison Hammond will replace Matt Lucas as a co-host on the show. The comedian, who joined the show in 2020, said in a podcast interview that the show was a "pandemic job" for him, per The Independent. Matt Lucas also stated that he left the show so he could focus on writing a book and his show, Fantasy Football League.

However, The Great British Baking Show also faced backlash from fans regarding Matt Lucas' role on the show and his inappropriate comments, so his departure may have been a mutual decision between the comedian and the network.

How many episodes of The Great British Baking Show are there?

Each season (or series/collection, in British jargon) includes 10-ish episodes. There will be exactly 10 episodes in season 11—and the first one is already on Netflix.

If you're eager for more, just know there are 13 other seasons—plus several one-off specials. Overall, there's 168 episodes, per IMDb. You could truly spend an entire month catching up on episodes.

What was the missing raspberry on The Great British Baking Show?

Okay, spoiler alert! If you've already watched the first episode of this season, you may be wondering what the deal was with the case of the missing raspberry. The iconic Great British Baking Show logo features a grand raspberry-covered cake—but one corner is noticeably berry-less. It has been a point of contention for years in The Great British Baking Show lore.

In the latest episode, contestants were asked to recreate the iconic cake for a technical challenge—missing raspberry and all!

While bakers prepared their cakes, Alison Hammond asked what happened to the missing fruit, and her co-host Noel Fielding revealed the treasure in a small box. It was with him the whole time! "It's my pension," he joked. "I'm selling that on eBay."
