'The Great British Bake Off' Is Coming Back Soon With A New Host

We may be over a month away from the premiere date, but there's good news for Great British Bake Off fans. The beloved competition series—which follows amateur bakers as they battle it out—is rumored to return to our TVs on September 12... in the U.K., that is.
While the U.S. release date has not yet been announced, here's everything we know thus far about the upcoming season of GBBO (which is called The Great British Show in the U.S.).
Who is hosting season 14 of The Great British Bake Off?
Earlier this year, it was announced that television personality Alison Hammond would replace Matt Lucas, who exited the show in December 2022. She will join existing co-host Noel Fielding.
"Well, do you know what? I'm just absolutely thrilled," Hammond said of the new gig. "I'm gonna be meeting the bakers very soon. I'm joining The Great British Bake Off. I'm so very excited. All my colleagues are absolutely speechless."
Fans were also thrilled of the news and went as far to call Hammond "a national treasure" and "the best human ever."
Who are the judges this season?
Good 'ole Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith will once again judge season 14 of The Great British Bake Off. And no one (maybe not even the fans) is as excited about Hammond's new role than Leith herself.
"I feel I’m really glad Alison’s coming, because at least she’s a woman and she’ll be a little more sensible,” she said while on the podcast Dish. "Those three men, they’re like three children. The word ‘sausage’ puts them into. But anyway, that’s them. Over and over again, I’m the butt of the joke because I’m standing there and I don’t understand why everyone’s laughing."
Who will compete in season 14 of GBBO?
Although contestants for the latest season have not been announced, according to Virgin Radio, more than 12,000 apply for the series each year. Only 12 are chosen to be on the show each season.
Where can you watch Great British Bake Off?
Although the U.S. premiere date has not yet been released, season 14 will air on Netflix.
