The dancer is on her 'healing journey.'

Cheryl Burke got candid about "starting over."

The dancer took to Instagram to share that she is on a new journey after making life-changing decisions last year.

Set to the tune of "Love in the Dark" by Adele, Burke shared a video of herself on a hike, wearing a black Adidas baseball cap with a black sweater jacket and a pink shirt.

"I'm 38. I'm a trauma survivor. I'm 5 years sober. I'm recently divorced. I retired from my career last year," she explained in the clip. "I feel like, in many ways, I'm starting over. While letting go of the past is helpful, new beginnings scare me and are often overwhelming," she continued. "I try to stay grateful, but sometimes I get stuck in fear. I know life will sort itself out, it always does."

The dancer's statement continued in the caption of the post, "Life can be so simple but so complicated at the same time," which also included a series of optimistic hashtags like "healing journey," "self-love journey," and "gratitude attitude."

In the fall of 2022, Burke revealed that she wouldn't return to Dancing With the Stars after appearing as a pro dancer on 26 seasons of the competition show.

"Yes, this is my last season as a dancer," she revealed. "It is hard for me to leave. I always come back, because, I guess, it's really hard to say goodbye to a show and to a family, that I've only known here in Los Angeles. I moved here when I was 21. I'm 38 now," she said.

And as Burke mentioned in her April 18 Instagram post, she is also dealing with a divorce from her ex-husband, Matthew Lawrence.

Burke filed divorce papers in a Los Angeles courthouse in Feb. 2022, listing their date of separation as Jan. 7, with Cheryl citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.

In the weeks following her divorce filing, she took to Instagram again, this time with a photo of her canine companion. "Taking a few days alone to focus inward, reflect and really try to feel my feelings—with my partner in crime of course ♥️," she wrote. "I think it’s important to note, that I am so fortunate to be able to pause and take this time for myself."

We're sending her all the love as she continues her healing journey.
