Missy Elliott gushed: "😍awwww this so Amazing🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾."

"Congratulations 😍😍," cheered model Winnie Harlow.

"Congratulations!!!!"  rapper and producer Jermaine Dupri exclaimed, "I love seeing you happy."

Da Brat, who was nominated for two Grammys—one in 1998 and one in 2004—said her road to pregnancy was "quite a journey," telling PEOPLE, "There's a lot of stuff we learned about women over the age of 40."

The rapper detailed a list of complications the couple faced prior to welcoming the good news, including Harris-Dupart's difficult recovery from egg retrieval, surgery needed to remove fibroids and polyps from Da Brat before the embryo transfer procedure, as well as a heartbreaking miscarriage.

"I had never been so excited about something that I didn't even know I wanted," Da Brat confessed, "I fell in love with the idea and then it was all snatched away from me."

The musician, now 18 weeks pregnant, explained that she never thought she would have kids, admitting, "I just thought it wasn't in the cards for me. I've had a great career, a full life. I felt like, because I didn't get pregnant earlier on, then it just wasn't going to happen for me."

But upon building a relationship with Harris-Dupart, Da Brat described "looking at life so differently."

"I was like, I want a little me with you. Something special from the both of us that we can share and raise and love unconditionally."

Harris-Dupart, the CEO of Kaleidoscope Hair Products, also admitted that a baby wasn't part of the couple's original plan, and started as a tongue-in-cheek joke.

"It started as a joke, we were like, 'We're extending our family!'" the entrepreneur revealed, recalling that the phrasing of the couple's collaboration for the brand caused them to really consider their options. "But then we got a huge response. It was like, 'Oh my God do we want to actually have kids, and if we do, girl, we better hurry up!'"

Luckily, she said the worst of her pregnancy symptoms is the mere feeling of exhaustion. "I don't have any cravings or nausea," she told the outlet, "but I'm always sleepy. It's crazy!"
