At the time, Vogue called the nuptials the “Wedding of the Century,” with the actress-turned-royal wearing a gown made by Hollywood costume designer Helen Rose. It took about 30 seamstresses three weeks to make, with the final piece using 300 yards of lace and 150 yards of taffeta, tulle, and silk.
