These Are GQ’s 2018 Men of the Year Covers

A newly minted Hollywood star, a tennis legend, an acting god who just directed his first movie, and the super villain who keeps rocking the box office: All four are GQ’s 23rd-annual Men of the Year issue honorees.

Michael B. Jordan is the Leader of the Year
You've seen it. You've probably seen it twice, or, if you take a good hard look at the box office stats, three or four times even. We're talking Black Panther, which took its cast—including Michael B. Jordan, already one of film's best and brightest—to another level of fame. Jordan is back this fall with Creed II, the follow-up to his immensely successful Rocky franchise extension. But MBJ’s already thinking bigger than just movies. Writer Allison P. Davis joins Jordan to find out what that means.

Henry Golding is the Star of the Year
When Crazy Rich Asians hit theaters this summer, Hollywood helds its breath waiting for the box office results, but anyone who knew anything about... well, anything, could've predicted it'd be the smash it was. Beyond its success—and what a success it was—it minted Henry Golding as one of the industry's must-hire new actors, and for good reason: He's handsome, he's suave, and that accent. A nation swooned, and GQ did too. Michelle Lhooq joins Golding in Venice Beach for a lesson in shattering expectations.

Jonah Hill is the Director of the Year
What do you do after you've already conquered the world of acting? If you're Jonah Hill, you move behind the camera and direct your first feature, the coming-of-age skater flick Mid90s, proving to the world you're as sharp a filmmaker as you are a star in front of the camera. GQ staff writer Zach Baron joins Hill at A24's New York headquarters to find out how flipping the script changed Hill for the better—and, it turns out, the happier too.

Serena Williams is the Champion of the Year
No matter how you cut it, Serena Williams had a remarkable year. Jeanne-Marie Laskas visits the G.O.A.T. at her Florida home to hear about the U.S. Open moment heard around the world, along with Serena's plans for the future, her thoughts on Brett Kavanaugh's Supreme Court appointment, and what it's like to be a black woman in America in 2018. All that, plus GQ worked up a special surprise cover collaboration with Virgil Abloh—the Off-White designer behind her coolest on-court looks in 2018—featuring his signature quotation marks in his own handwriting.
