The Gown that Dua Lipa Wore to Meet Camilla, Queen Consort, Seemed to Pay Homage to Princess Diana's Iconic Revenge Dress

Dua Lipa recently attended the ceremony for the 2022 Booker Prize for Fiction Award and gifted us with yet another gorgeous fashion moment. You might even say that it was one for the books. 😉
We aren't even surprised, at this point, that she slays any opportunity to get dressed up. After all, Dua rang in her 27th birthday in a tiny crystal bra, turned pants into a minidress, and even wore an office-ready blazer over a gown (!) to receive her honorary ambassadorship from the President of the Republic of Kosovo.
This time, Dua Lipa got her glam on with the prettiest Burberry gown from their Spring 2023 collection that debuted at London Fashion Week this past month. The singer posed against a red background for an Instagram photoshoot, showing off the sweeping, off-the-shoulder neckline and bow detailing on the front of her dress.
In one of the photos that she posted, Dua made a closed-eye kissy face for the camera, touching a gloved finger to her neutral pink lipstick and revealing a light wash of bronze-y shimmer across her eyelids. She accessorized with Tiffany & Co. Elsa Peretti teardrop earrings and wore her long, dark hair up in an elegant ponytail to reveal the low back of her dress.
The luxurious, winter-ready black velvet fabric of Dua's gown contrasted prettily against a pair of sheer, diamond lace opera gloves that created the illusion of sleeves, and the off-the-shoulder neckline seemingly paid homage to black dresses that both Diana, Princess of Wales, and Camilla, Queen Consort, have worn in the past.
Speaking of the royals, Dua Lipa had the sweetest royal run-in at the Booker Prize ceremony. While Dua was slated to deliver the keynote speech of the night, the actual presenter of the 2022 Booker Prize for Fiction was Queen Camilla. The ceremony and presentation mark one of Camilla's first public engagements as Queen Consort. Dua and Queen Camilla were photographed having what appeared to be a lively conversation with each other as the two met for the first time.
In her keynote speech, Dua credits literature and good writing for helping her and others find their place in the world. “Today, touring commitments take me all over the globe and life is often hectic. Sometimes, just to survive, I need to adopt a tough exterior. And at these times, it is books that soften me,” said the singer. “Good writing has the power to make people feel seen and heard, to tell stories that the world has ignored. We all just want to love and be loved and find our place in the world, and authors really help us to do that.”
Dua Lipa shared her heartfelt thanks to the Booker Prize Foundation, writing, "Reading gives me so much joy, so it was an absolute honor to speak last night at the Booker Prize ceremony" as well as offering her congratulations to Booker Prize for Fiction winner Shehan Karunatilaka, author of The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida.
