I am a popcorn person. In fact, I may be a popcorn addict. I can’t go a few days without popping the sort-of-healthy snack. I prefer the buttery stuff from the movie theater, but I’m not afraid to try new flavors either. Nevertheless, recently I tried Opopop, the world’s first flavor-wrapped popcorn kernels, and I feel the need to tell the world about it.
Opopop (pronounced like oh-po-pop) makes the best microwave popcorn and you can choose between a range of flavors, from traditional ones like Fancy Butter and Salted Caramel to unique flavors like Chedapeno and Vanilla Cake Pop.
However, this isn’t your traditional microwave popcorn. Opopop wraps each popcorn kernel in flavor using their own proprietary process, which means each kernel is as flavorful as the next. The kernels come in their own small bag or cup and come with a reusable silicone popping bowl that doubles as a serving container. Simply pour the kernels into the bowl, place the lid on top and microwave for two to three minutes.
I recently tried a sampling of the Fancy Butter, Cinnalicious, Vanilla Cake Pop and the Salted Umami. While any type of butter flavor is my favorite, I really liked the sweeter ones, too. Seriously, each kernel is coated in flavor, as if you got bought a bag of the pre-popped stuff. (You know what I mean?) However, it tasted fresher, and it was warm.
The only downside is that I can’t walk to the grocery store to stock up on more. Opopop is exclusively sold online on the brand’s website and on Williams Sonoma (so you know it’s fancy).
