April Fools' Pranks for Parents To Play on Kids

1. This year, April Fools' falls on a Saturday—which is the perfect chance for parents to confuse their unsuspecting children into thinking it's actually Friday. Wake your child up early and say, "It's Friday—you're going to be late for school" and watch their brains try to compute what you just said.

2. Clean out their underwear drawer and hide the stolen underpants somewhere safe. When the kids ask where all their drawers are, shrug, and say, "In the laundry!"

3. Fill their bathroom with as many balloons as possible. When they sleepily open the door to brush their teeth first thing in the AM, they'll be completely caught off guard by the balloons!

4. While your kids are sleeping, sneak onto their iPads or phones and download a wallpaper that looks like a cracked screen. They'll have a heart attack when they wake up!

5. Here's another fun underwear-related one since kids love potty humor. Using a needle and thread, secretly thread all of their underwear together. That way, when your kid picks out their undies for the day, every single pair will fall out of the drawer too.

6. Using a washable marker, draw a fake mustache on your kid's face. When they wake up and go to the bathroom, it'll be the first thing they notice in the mirror!

7. Make your kid a sandwich like you usually do, only using green food coloring, add little spots of "mold" to the sandwich bread.

8. Replace the bathroom toilet paper with this hilarious alternative—No Tear Toilet Paper.

9. This one's easy and there are no props necessary. When greeting your kid in the AM, squint at their face and say, "Yikes! Is that a zit?!" Watch them immediately freak out no matter what age they are!

10. Freak out your kids with another food coloring hack. Using red food dye, add a rim of dye around the kitchen faucet. When you run the water, the dye will bleed into the water, making it look like something out of a horror movie.

11. Another cruel one, but man, the reaction's priceless. Whip up some caramel-covered apples for your kids—only, replace the apples with onions!

12. Before your kids take a bath or shower, dip their bar soap into a bowl full of bubbles. That bar will slip, slip, slip the whole time they're bathing!

13. Take everything out of your kid's backpack then turn the knapsack inside out. Throw everything back inside and wait for your child (or maybe someone at school!) to notice.

14. Take the batteries out of all the TV remotes.

15. The scariest joke of all? Change the WiFi password!

16. Gift them a thoughtful candle—one that's Dirt scented, of course.

17. Tape two or three balloons on the interior side of the front door. When they come home and open the door, the balloons will hit against the wall and pop, freaking them out!

18. Switch the sugar with the salt and watch it all unfold as your parents sip their morning latte.

19. Use a washable marker to draw a fake mustache on family photos all over the house. It may take them a while to even notice this prank, so you have to have patience!

20. Place a teensy bit of saran wrap underneath the cap of each of your parents' shower products. They'll be pouring out shampoo and conditioner, but won't be able to comprehend why it's not coming out!

21. Turn all the books on their bookshelf the wrong way so you can't see the spines.

22. Switch the furniture around in just one room of the house. Keep it simple by switching chairs or ottomans to the other side of the room.

23. Offer to pour your parents a glass of water... only actually fill the cup with half water, half distilled white vinegar! Once they figure it out though, be sure to pour it down the drain. Nobody wants to full-on drink a cup of vinegar!

24. Change the times on the microwave and stovetop clock.

25. Offer them a colored or flavored drink—maybe iced tea, lemonade or juice. Then, fill the cup with pre-made Jell-O so that when they tip the glass to take a gulp, nothing comes out!

26. Place a small piece of tape over the sensor on the TV remote so that no matter how hard they try to push the button, the television still won't go on.

27. Roll the toilet paper down just a smidge and carefully draw a small black spider on the second piece of TP. Make sure to roll it back up before leaving the scene of the crime!

28. Carefully place a bunch of craft store feathers onto each blade of the ceiling fan. When they go to turn on the fan, the living room or bedroom will look like someone just had a pillow fight!

29. Freeze a plastic bug in one of the ice cube slots in a tray, then slip the bug cube into their morning iced coffee.

30. Turn all of the picture frames upside down.
