This Gorgeous One-of-a-Kind Genesis Crossover Is an Off-Road Beast
Genesis is ready to broaden the GV70’s horizons.
The Korean luxury marque has teamed up with Delta Geländesport for a concept called Project Overland that is based on its mid-size crossover. The unique build was designed specifically for off-roading fun and represents an an enticing peak of what could be in store for the model down the road.

Genesis couldn’t have picked a better partner for the GV70 Project Overland. Delta has been taking already well-regarded 4x4s like the Mercedes-Benz G-Class and Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and turning them into even more capable off-roaders for four decades. Of course, unlike most of the vehicles the German tuner upgrades, the GV70 is better known for its looks than what it can do off the beaten path.
The Project Overland may look like your standard GV70 at a glance, but closer inspection reveals that it’s been equipped with all manner of off-roading goodies. The most important of these is a revised suspension that sees the vehicle’s ride height boosted by nearly two inches. The body has also widened by the same amount, outfitted with extended wheel arches, and had Baja-style lights integrated. The roof, meanwhile, features PIAA lights and a rack to hold all the outdoor gear you can’t fit inside the vehicle. Rounding out the modifications are a set of 18-inch black Classic B Rugged wheels wrapped in Continental all-terrain tires (the vehicle will be on display at the tiremaker’s booth at the Essen Motor Show in early December).
There’s no mention as to whether the concept comes equipped with either an internal combustion engine or an all-electric powertrain. The gas-powered version of the vehicle comes with either a turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four that produces 300 hp or a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 that produces 375 hp. The Electrified GV70, meanwhile, has a dual-motor setup that produces a combined 429 hp. Regardless of the powertrain, all versions of the GV70 offer all-wheel drive.
It’s important to remember that as alluring as the Project Overland may be, it is just a one-off at this point. Neither Genesis nor Delta have said a thing about the vehicle eventually being made available as a variant. That said, with a refreshed GV70 reportedly on the way, it could be a sign that the automaker is interested in exploring the potential of the crossover like never before.
