Gorgeous 'Black Smoke' Maine Coon Kitten With Extra Toes Has People Enchanted

As cliche as it sounds, every pet is special in their very own way. They each have a one-in-a-million personality, after all, and you'll never meet two pets who are exactly like. Even littermates will have different interests, energy levels, and physical characteristics, but how cool is it to get to know an animal as unique as you are?

The folks at Sweet Giant Maine Coons are no strangers to pets' individuality, and they love to celebrate the unique traits their kittens have.In fact, they've been waiting a long, long time to meet someone like this brand new 'black smoke' kitten whom they introduced in a January 15 video. She has the rare smoky coloring that so many cat lovers drool over, but her extra toes have everyone talking!

What a beautiful baby! This precious girl has no idea just how lovely she is, and she doesn't even mind being held in front of the camera. If you ask me, she's either very used to having the 'pawparazzi' around, or she's about to take a cat nap

Either way, it's safe to say that this baby Maine Coon cat is absolutely adored. She's going to stay with her owner from @sweetgiantmainecoons for her whole life, which means she'll be a regular in their TikTok videos, too! One day, we may even see kittens of her very own.

A 'black smoke' Maine Coon has a rare, smoky-looking coat of fur that can range in color from charcoal to silver. Their fur may appear black at the root and lighter on the outside, which gives them that layered, smokey appearance.

Polydactyl Cats Have More than 18 Toes

I know what you're thinking--cats really have 18 toes? It's true! Normally, cats have four toes on each paw, plus one dew claw on each front paw that sits higher up on the leg. When a feline has a genetic abnormally called polydactyly, though, they have at least one extra toe.

These extra digits don't always come in pairs, however, so it's possible for a cat to have a different number of toes on each paw. It's most common to see just one extra toe, like on this stunning Maine Coon kitten, but the world record holder has ten extra toes!

Though the cattery didn't specify how many extra toes this gorgeous gray cat is sporting, it almost doesn't matter. She's positively purr-fect exactly as she is--smoky fur and all!
