This week's episode of Uncharted kicks off with Gordon Ramsay ankle-deep in the Matukituki River, trying (and failing) to fish out a eels with his bare hands. So clearly, our man's got quite the adventure ahead in New Zealand.

Now let's jump in. Episode two begins with a trip to the "remote and wild" Stewart Island. A fitting first choice considering our host admits to knowing zilch about the NZ cuisine himself. "What I know about the food of this isolated country could be written on a grain of rice," he narrates. Sounds like the island is interesting place to start.

He lands "in the middle of nowhere," his words, not mine, to meet up with renowned local chef Monique Fiso, who's been praised for her contribution to the Māori and Polynesian food revival. And because an episode cannot go by without Gordon Ramsay scaling or climbing something, she quickly sends him up a tree for berries.

However, he's got a much more daunting task ahead: Learn the art of Māori cuisine by end of week. He's got another cook-off.

Now it's time for Gordon to suit up for a free dive. After a lot of failed attempts (this seems to be a reoccurring theme) he retrieves some Pāua for the group's beach fish fry. But shortly after, he leaves for the north island to continue his ingredient hunt.

And this is where Ramsay faces those eels. You know, the speedy little guys he's gotta snag with his bare hands. The ones that have legit teeth and will bite. Yeah, these suckers are scary as sh*t. But also, make really great food.

For his next ingredient, Fiso is sending Gordon to the hills for a mountain goat, which he's gotta hunt himself. Now if you're squeamish, an animal lover, or, I don't know, don't want to watch a poor, living creature die, fast forward here. He shoots and kills ones.

But now that the hard part (finding the ingredients) is over, the even harder part begins: Put his education to test. Here's what's on the menu: pan-fried Pāua, goat with fuchsia berry chutney, teriyaki-glazed eel, and roast salad of wild forest herbs. So the consensus? "Everything was perfect," according to one guest, and guys, I've got agree. It looked so good.
