Google's Pixel Buds Pro Have Finally Arrived. Here's How To Get Your Hands on Them.

The reviews are in: Google's new Pixel Buds Pro give Apple AirPods a run for their money. Since the release of Pixel Buds in 2017, Google has had a somewhat fraught entry into the earbuds market due to performance issues and a soft response from customers. But with this highly anticipated launch, the company has officially arrived.
If you want one pair of earbuds that you can take everywhere, the Pixel Buds Pro are a great option. I love my Apple AirPods Pro as much as anyone, but they tend to fall out if I'm not sitting still, especially during workouts. Powerbeats are great for active wear, but they're a bit bulky if you're sitting at your desk and they're cumbersome to put on quickly if you're on the go or answering a phone call.
I like simplicity, so I have longed to find one pair of wireless earbuds that are good for everything. The Pixel Buds Pro might just be the answer. The long and short of it: They don't fall out of your ears, they are comfortable to wear for long periods of time, and the audio quality is up to par with other popular wireless earbuds like AirPods Pro and Sony's WF-1000XM4.
My favorite part about the Pixel Buds Pro—especially when comparing them to AirPods—is the fit. The earbud rests on the upper shelf of your earlobe and fits flush into the natural shape of your ear without protruding outward. The body of the earbuds is made of silicone so it naturally adheres to your skin to stay put without a suction sensation. When worn for extended periods of time, like when working in front of a laptop for hours, the soft silicone doesn't induce soreness or discomfort like hard plastic AirPods. When sweating, the silicone does not become slippery and stays securely in place.
Beyond the excellent fit, Pixel Buds Pro feature a host of new features that are a first for Google. Chief among them is active noise cancelation, which was noticeably absent from previous Pixel Buds models. They also feature a transparency mode that lets outside noise in, although surrounding noise is still slightly muffled in this mode compared to the crystal-clear transparent sound you may be accustomed to from AirPods. Another standout feature—one that's not a copycat of competitors—is multipoint Bluetooth connectivity than can seamlessly transition between multiple devices. That means that if you're working on your laptop and listening to audio but your phone rings, you can answer the phone call without manually disconnecting the earbuds from your laptop and reconnecting them to your phone.
Rounding out the Pixel Buds Pro is an impressive battery life (11 hours standalone and a 31 hours with the charging case), 11mm speaker drivers, a custom volume equalizer that adjusts tuning as you turn the volume up or down, and a voice accelerometer and wind-blocking mesh speaker cover designed to enhance your voice and block out background noise during phone calls. They come in four colors: charcoal, fog, lemongrass, and coral.
The Pixel Buds Pro were released on July 28, 2022 and retail for $199.99. They're available to purchase on Amazon now, with an estimated delivery date of August 18.
