Goodwill to host safety-themed Community Resource Fair

CANTON − A Community Resource Fair coordinated by Goodwill Industries will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at The Ken Weber Community Campus at Goodwill, 408 Ninth St. SW.

The free event is open to the public.

“The Resource Fair is a way to connect individuals and families in our community to all types ofvaluable services,” said Director of Mission Services Katie Gauze. “This year, the fair has a safetytheme, with multiple workshops throughout the event.”

More than 30 local agencies and organizations will take part in the event, including Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio, Compass, Project REBUILD, Stark County Hunger Task Force, SARTA, Canton City Public Health, CommQuest Services, Lifecare Family Health & Dental Center and American Red Cross of Northern Ohio.

The safety-themed workshop schedule is as follows:

  • 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.: Save a Life + Stop the Bleed presented by Canton Fire Department

  • 10:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.: De-Escalation presented by CommQuest Services

  • 10:30 a.m. and noon: Rape Culture Interrupted: Empowerment Workshop presented by Compass

  • 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.: Food Safety presented by Stark County Hunger Task Force

  • Noon and 1 p.m.: Mental Health Awareness & Self Care by National Alliance on Mental Illness

Attendees will be able to receive free children’s books as part of Goodwill’s BookWorks program. Books are available in reading levels appropriate for infants through young adults.
