'Good Times' Star John Amos Victim of 'Elder Abuse,' Daughter Alleges

John Amos' daughter is coming forward with some harrowing news about her 83-year-old father, who she says has become a victim of elder abuse.

Shannon Amos, the 56-year-old daughter of the Good Times star, made the alarming claims on a new GoFundMe page, which she set up to raise money for her dad's care.

In the fundraiser's description, Shannon alleges that her dad was left "fighting for his life" in the ICU of a Memphis hospital last month, prompting her and the rest of the family to unveil the "horrifying truth" about the actor.

"My dad had fallen victim to elder abuse and financial exploitation," she claimed, adding that her father's home was "violated," and "stripped of anything valuable." She also said the alleged abuse is believed to have been committed by a "trusted caregiver."

Without giving any further details about the specific mistreatment, Shannon wrote, "We are working closely with the Colorado Bureau of Investigations and the local Sheriff's Department in my father's home state."

Shannon, who said she currently resides in a different country than her father, also didn't expand much on the state of his health, but she insisted that his current hospitalization "requires extensive medical care and rehabilitation."

"Your donations will aid in covering legal expenses and holding the perpetrator(s) accountable," the fundraiser page promises. "This campaign is also an opportunity for us to express our heartfelt appreciation for John's immense contributions to the entertainment industry."

The actor, who also appeared in Coming to America, Roots, The Beastmaster and more, is primarily known for his role as James Evans, Sr. in the CBS sitcom Good Times, which aired from 1974 to 1980.

"John Amos, known as 'America's TV Dad,' is 83, vulnerable, and needs our support," his daughter further implored. "Please join us, his family, and his closest friends, in raising the funds required for his recovery, pursuit of justice, and long-term care. Together, let us support this legendary figure who has touched the lives of many."

"Thank you for your concern, compassion, and contribution," the post concluded.

However, TMZ has since reported that they spoke with Amos, who denied that he's been abused. A rep for the actor apparently told the publication that the star was hospitalized after his lower body had filled with fluid, which caused issues with his heart.

Per the outlet, he's currently on the mend.

Amos' daughter has since spoken out against this update, adding on Instagram, "All due respect to my father's response, I understand that this is embarrassing and upsetting, and probably not what he would have wanted me to do, but it is in his best interest."

She further added, "I am not crazy."

Shannon has since deleted the Instagram video.
