Good Morning, Matt James Responded to Clare Crawley Shading Him on Twitter
Matt James responded to Clare Crawley subtweeting him for joining Cameo.
Matt reminded everyone (read: Clare) that he’s donating his Cameo proceeds to charity.
The Bachelorette might be postponed until further notice, but this is already *extreme Chris Harrison voice* the most! dramatic! season! ever! For reasons that remain a mystery, Clare Crawley decided to hop on Twitter over the weekend and subtweet her contestant Matt James—aka Tyler Cameron’s best friend.
“If you are doing interviews and creating Cameo accounts before you are even on my season...you are in it for the wrong reasons... #DontWasteYourTime,” Clare tweeted. “Respect the opportunity you’ve been given. Respect the rules. Respect me.”

Clare’s tweet is pretty obviously about Matt (who is, in fact, on Cameo), and she got a lot of backlash for good reason. Unlike other Bachelorette contestants who have been plucked out of relative obscurity, Matt is already pretty famous, and he’s using Cameo—and giving interviews—in order to promote his charity.
“For those of you who may have missed the messaging earlier this week, myself and Alex Bachman my former teammate and current New York Giants wide receiver have pledged all of our Cameo earnings to the Robin Hood Foundation to fight this fight.”

In other words, he’s trying to use his platform to help other people, which should be celebrated, not shaded.
In other news, Clare’s season is gonna be awkward.
