Good Morning to Mariah Carey Describing Her “Sensual” Hookup With Derek Jeter Only

Mariah Carey just published the future Nobel Prize–winning piece of literature that is her memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, and in it, she casually talked about her “sensual” hookup with Derek Jeter.
In the instantly classic book, Mariah opens up about meeting Derek at a dinner party in 1997. According to TMZ, they started falling for each other after sharing their experiences with being biracial and eventually started talking in secret—which led to “a warm, slow, intoxicating kiss” on Derek’s roof. However, they didn’t go any further because Mariah was married at the time and “neither of us had wanted to cheapen our romance by cheating on my marriage.”
But! When Mariah’s divorce from Tommy Mottola was finalized, TMZ reports that she flew to Tampa to hook up with Derek. “Everything was so new and sweet, down to the smooth texture of his honey-dipped skin. It was how it was supposed to feel,” she wrote, adding that the experience was “so sensual” and that he “was only the second person I had slept with ever (coincidentally, his number was 2 on the Yankees).”
Ultimately, the relationship didn’t work out because they couldn’t “live up to each other’s fantasies.” As Mariah writes, “DJ was a love in my life, not of my life.”
