'The Good Doctor' Fans Are Almost Certain Morgan Filed the Complaint in Last Night's Episode

From Good Housekeeping

  • The Good Doctor season 3 episode 14 aired on ABC on Monday night.

  • At the end of the episode, called "Influence," Dr. Audrey Lim told Dr. Neil Melendez about a favoritism complaint filed against him.

  • Fans on Twitter are convinced that Dr. Morgan Reznick was the one behind it.

Fans of The Good Doctor have been abuzz about Dr. Claire Browne's relationship with Dr. Neil Melendez ever since they first started bonding over running earlier this season. While some suspect the feelings between Claire and Melendez might be romantic (they did start getting closer right after Melendez and Dr. Audrey Lim broke up, after all), others are just happy that Claire has found someone to be a friend and support her through her grief over her mother's death. Either way, they're growing closer — and others at St. Bonaventure are starting to notice.

At the end of episode 14 on Monday, Dr. Lim alerted Melendez to a "favoritism complaint" that had been filed against him.

"There's something awkward we need to talk about: you and Claire," Dr. Lim said. "I received an anonymous favoritism complaint. We need to deal with it."

The complaint might have been anonymous, but fans of the show were pretty immediately certain they knew who filed it:

"Morgan Reznick is ANNOYING!!!! I haven't liked her character since she started. You wanna send anonymous complaints about favoritism but none of your bosses know you have arthritis," another fan wrote, calling out her refusal to tell her supervisors about her arthritic pain, which could potentially affect her ability to do surgery. "Screw Morgan for snitching on Claire and Melendez for running," tweeted a third.

Needless to say, fans are pretty darn convinced Morgan is the one behind the complaint — and she did see Claire and Melendez running together earlier in the episode, which didn't seem to sit well with her. But she's not the only one who might have reason to believe Melendez is playing favorites: Twice in episode 14, Melendez slighted Dr. Alex Park by siding with Claire in conversations they had during surgery. It's entirely possible that he'd feel motivated to file a favoritism complaint, as well.

So, who really filed the complaint — and how will Melendez (and Dr. Lim) handle it? We'll have to wait 'til next week's episode to find out.
