Goldie Hawn's Son Oliver Hudson Shares 'Trauma' From Childhood

Oliver Hudson is opening up about the challenges of being raised by famous actress Goldie Hawn.

The 47-year-old actor, the first-born child of Hawn and her ex-husband, Bill Hudson, explained on a recent episode of his Sibling Rivalry podcast that he once completed a course to learn about his childhood trauma, which he expected would focus mostly on his relationship with his estranged father. (Goldie's longtime partner, Kurt Russell, ultimately served as the primary father figure for Oliver and his sister, Kate Hudson.)

But Oliver was surprised to learn that "interestingly enough," it was Goldie, 78, whom he had "almost the most trauma about."

"She was my primary caregiver, and I was with her all of the time," he explained while confessing, "I felt unprotected at times."

"She would be working. She had new boyfriends that I didn't really like," Oliver continued while stressing that his mom was just 'living her life," and that she was "an amazing mother."

"This is my own perception as a child who didn't have a dad and needed her to be there," he clarified. "And she just wasn't [there] sometimes and she came out far more than even my dad who wasn't there."

While his relationship with his father is definitely complicated, Oliver previously praised Goldie and Kurt, 73, for being "amazing people, amazing grandparents, amazing parents," in a 2021 interview with Us Weekly.

Goldie and Kurt—who never tied the knot in over 40 years of being together—also have one child together, their son, Wyatt Russell, 37, who stars alongside his dad in Apple TV's Monarch Legacy of Monsters series. (Kurt also has one son, Boston Russell, 44, from his former marriage to Season Hubley.)

Goldie and Kurt are now the proud grandparents of eight total grandkids, including Oliver's three children, sons Wilder and Bodhi, and daughter Rio.

Kate, 44, also has three children of her own, sons Ryder and Bingham, as well as daughter Rani. Meanwhile, Wyatt has two sons, Buddy Prine, born in 2021, and Boone, born in February.
