One of the best Super Bowl ads this year was from beer brand Budweiser who brought back their gorgeous Clydesdale horses who got a little help with a beer delivery from a beautiful Yellow Labrador.

What you may not know, is that the dog in the ad belongs to Hollywood dream couple Kurt Russel and Goldie Hawn, and they celebrated Roy's advertising debut on Instagram yesterday. There's a lot of talk about Hollywood nepobabies, and now we can add nepopuppy to the mix!

The post reads, "Don’t get me wrong I love watching football but tonight was all about watching our dog Roy Hawn Russell star in his first Super Bowl commercial for budweiserusa!!!"

What we all wanted to know is if Roy got his name from her and Russel's hilarious 1987 movie Overboard. Roy is the name Goldie's character, Joanna, guesses her 'son' is called after she is prodded by her onscreen 'husband' – and real-life partner who played Dean. Joanna loses her memory and Dean tries to brainwash her into believing that she is his wife, Annie, and the mother of his four sons. When asked who one of the kids is, Hawn answers 'Roy' when his name is actually Travis.

Here's another cute snap of Roy from Hawn's Instagram account when she first got the little rescue lab.

Goldie Hawn's daughter Kate Hudson also joined the celebration of Roy's big debut by sharing the following video on her Instagram.

It's so cute how the entire family was so excited for Roy's debut. Here's hoping this is just the start of a long acting career for Roy and he takes after his incredibly talented human parents!

Fun Facts About the Budweiser Clydesdales

Budweiser Clydesdales weigh an average 2,000 pounds, must be bay in color, have four white legs and a blaze of white on the face.

The Budweiser Clydesdales have been part of Anheuser-Busch television ads dating back to the 1950s.

The Anheuser Busch website reports that the Budweiser Clydesdales are given short names, such as Duke, Mark and Bud, to make it easier for the driver to give commands to the horses during a performance.

The combined weight of the horses, gear, drivers, and fully-loaded wagon is about 12 tons.

The Clydesdales have become a Super Bowl favorite, appearing in the commercials on 45 different occasions.

Budweiser's decision to reintroduce the iconic Clydesdales and the endearing dog in their ad is a pretty smart strategic move. The inclusion of these beautiful animals always gets a heartwarming awwww response from football fans but also reinforces a strong association with the Budweiser brand, a connection that has become widely recognized. You see Clydesdale horses, you think of the beer.

Now we will also think about Labrador Retrievers!
