Golden Retriever Waits Like a Patient Human After Getting Locked Out of House

Thank goodness dogs love their humans, because pet owners...well, they make mistakes. Take one Golden Retriever owner, who had a major whoopsie and accidentally locked their pup outside. Oops!

Dog mom Whitney Rhoad must've felt so bad when she realized what happened. But thankfully we don't think her dog held it against her.

In the footage the Golden mama shared online, it shows doorbell camera footage of the whole thing. The video shows the English Cream standing outside the front door with a toy in her mouth. She honestly looks like she's a neighbor dog popping over to say hello. Little would anyone suspect that she's stuck outside waiting for her mama to come get her.

"When you accidentally lock the dog out," she wrote in the video's onscreen caption. "Good thing we have a doorbell cam," she joked.

Good thing indeed! We can only imagine how worried the dog mama was when she realized her Golden Retriever was missing.

People in the comments section really felt for the pup. "That's so cute she just wanted back in," wrote one person. "I would feel so guilty and give her all the treats in the world," someone else added. "Even had the toy in her mouth. Aww more toys for her," a third person commented. "She’s like mama you forgot me," one woman chimed in.

English Creams vs. American Golden Retrievers

With their pale coats, English Cream Golden Retrievers have really become popular in recent years. But it should be known that there isn't much of a difference between English Creams and American Golden Retrievers.

In fact, the Golden Retriever Club of America says that sometimes the difference in coat colors can convince people that English Creams are an entirely different breed! But that's not the case. Some people might make all sorts of crazy claims about English Creams as a way to market them for sale. Things like English Creams are healthier, have a better temperament, or have a longer lifespan. But this isn't the case. English Cream are just straight up Golden Retrievers. They may have lighter fur than other Goldens, but they are the same exact breed. In fact, the Golden Retrievers breed originates from Scotland — meaning that the name English Cream is sort of a misnomer. Today, these pups are primarily bred in America, again not the United Kingdom.

That being said, both English Creams and American Golden Retrievers make excellent pets. Just make sure to keep tabs on them — or else you'll end up finding yours outside your house like this dog owner did.
