Golden Retriever 'Playing the Piano' in His Dreams Is Beyond Adorable

If you've ever watched your dog sleep, you may have noticed they move around. Both adult dogs and puppies twitch in their sleep. This is actually a sign of healthy development. Sleeping dogs go through similar stages of sleep as humans. So the twitching, movements, and vocalizing are part of their REM sleep.

It's hard not to imagine what they're dreaming about when they're making the cutest movements. But sometimes, it's quite obvious what they're dreaming about. At least it is for this Golden Retriever, known on TikTok as @batchoithegolden.

O.M.G. We can't handle how cute this is! There's no doubt in our minds that this doggo was a musician in a previous life. Just look at how he's playing the piano! We would do anything to know what song he was playing in his dream.

Luckily, this dog was having a happy dream, but just like humans, dogs can have nightmares too. According to experts, nightmares for dogs are related to past trauma, and rescue dogs, in particular, are more prone to nightmares. The signs that a dog is having a nightmare include growling, whining, or yelping.

And just like a human parent, dog owners want to comfort their fur babies when they're having a nightmare, but when do you step in? If you decide to wake up your dog, proceed with caution. Waking up your pet might cause them to feel disoriented. You could also try calling their name softly to wake them up. Do this a few times with your volume increasing each time. Once your dog is awake, you can try calming them down with soft music. Although nightmares are scary, the good news is that they are preventable. It will take some patience and a little know-how in order to stop them from reoccurring.
