Golden Retriever 'Helping with Chores' Is Better Than Most Human Kids

Whether doing chores is the bane of your existence or simply a part of your daily routines, it's only normal to feel frustrated about them every now and then. Sometimes, it feels like the tasks pile up endlessly! By the time you cross the final item off your to-do list, another two chores are ready to be done. It's a universal struggle!

Luckily, splitting up chores can make the tasks a lot easier for everyone. Partners, kids, and roommates are all capable of lending a helping hand, but one resourceful Golden Retriever recently set out to prove that pets can help with chores, too.

Sunday is a golden girl in more than one way, and this May 9 video is the perfect example. She just may be the most helpful member of the family on chore day!

OMG--how cute is she? This Golden Retriever is up for anything, whether it's bird watching by the back door (AKA "sweeping the floors") or helping with the dishes. As long as she's with her family--she's a happy girl!

Fortunatley, plenty of her favorite activities are also helpful for her humans. For example, Sunday gets a dog-safe snack while her family gets less food waste to dispose of. Now that's what I call a win-win!

And don't even get me started on her adorable wake-up calls. That would be my favorite alarm clock, for sure! Sadly, she can't be trusted to 'awoo' at the exact time her family needs it, so an alarm clock might be the safest bet for now. That's ok--she can help with just about everything else! She's a pro at picking up any dropped crumbs (she is a Retriever breed, after all), and she's more thorough than any dishwasher pre-rinse you can buy in stores.

Can Your Dog Be Trained to Do Chores?

While Sunday's priceless help might be cuter than any chore you've seen before, you'll be glad to know that any dog can learn to help around the house. With some patience and dog treats, your buddy can learn to pick up and drop items (with your instructions, of course), open cabinets, and even put away their own dog toys. These may be little tasks, but they add up to be a big help!

Overall, working on obedience training with your dog can help keep your home clean in many ways. Whether it's stopping them before they track muddy paw prints through the house or teaching your dog to open and close the dishwasher door, there's no limit to the ways your furry friend can make your life a bit easier. Sunday is living proof!
