Golden Retriever ‘Critiquing’ Dad’s Bathtime Skills With New Baby Is the Cutest Judge

Bringing home a new baby when your first child is a fur baby is such an incredible experience. They two bond so quickly and become instant besties. Your fur baby's protection and love for your new baby is incredible to witness.

Machayla Culver recently brought home her daughter and her Golden Retriever is her big brother and protector. She shared a couple of videos recently of the baby's bathtime. In the first one she was giving her daughter a bath as the dog watched on, approving of how mom was doing (for the most part). But in this video dad is doing the bathing...and the dog had a lot to say about it!

The dog's side eye game is strong! I think it's safe to say he's Team Mom when it comes to who the better baby bather is. Commenters had some funny responses to Machayla's video. @Molly Biggs spoke for the dog and said, "“All I’m saying is there is no chance of drowning when I bath her”!" @Leslie laughed, "I thought he was judgy in the video with mom but he's SUPER judgy with dad!!" and @Scented Halls added, "Y’all gonna have him on anxiety pills!"

Do Golden Retrievers Make Good Protectors?

It's no secret that Golden Retrievers are fiercely loyal and extremely intelligent dogs, and one of the most popular dogs out there. I didn't know that they have another trait that proves why they're such great dogs...they are very protective of their families as well.

But this doesn't mean they are good guard dogs, they're considered better watch dogs. They are always aware of their surroundings and when they perceive a threat you can expect them to alert their owners by barking and standing their ground rather than attacking or physically defending anybody.

But that bark works well; since they are a large dog breed with a muscular build and deep bark, they can be intimidating! Because they are so intelligent, they can also be trained to respond to certain commands including protective ones like barking, growling, and baring their teeth on command.

Loyal Goldens shared, 'Goldens were bred as hunting dogs and are usually quite fearless, especially when the danger comes in the form of another animal. When faced with the threat of a wild animal or aggressive dog, don’t be surprised if they jump in front of you, placing themselves in harm’s way to protect you." They go on to explain, "They do this to create a barrier between you and the threat, and it is very instinctive. As their pack leader, it’s a Golden retriever's duty to protect you."

Goldens are amazing dogs, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're right for your family's lifestyle. As with anytime you're considering bringing home a new pet, make sure to do your research to learn the good, the bad, and the ugly that come with the breed to determine if it's the right dog for you.
