Last night, Golden Goose kicked off the 60th Venice Biennale in grand fashion with its HAUS of Dreamers event. Rife with immersive experiences, guests and friends of the Italian sneaker brand, including Dutch supermodel Romee Strijd, celebrated at its palatial headquarters in Marghera, the industrial port of Venice. The space was meticulously transformed to represent the tenets of Golden Goose: craft, culture, and art, specifically through the eyes of four multifaceted artists from different fields: Argentinian visual artist Andrés Reisinger, Italian sculptor Fabio Viale, French-Italian painter Maïa Régis, and Puerto Rican singer Mia Lailani.

Just as the sun was setting, we looked on as Viale transformed marble pillars into burned, wooden-like “Briccole” sculptures—the wooden rods at docks throughout the city that are not something one would necessarily pay attention to. However, after watching Carrera marble transform and take on a new life, I for one will never see them the same way. Following the performance, attendees entered the Manovia area, an immaculate mini pop-up factory, where we were invited to customize the newly introduced Marathon Sneaker.

The experience ended with a walk through the archives of Golden Goose’s 20-plus-year designs. It was eye-opening; the depth and breadth of the collections including tailored suiting, delicate lingerie pieces, and puffer coats, as well as a variety of other accessories including open-toe leather high heels and sumptuous suede handbags. Also in the archive is the only collaboration that Golden Goose has ever done: a pair of trainers with the late Virgil Abloh.

HAUS will open to the public on April 21 as part of HAUS Week, featuring performances, workshops, and talks on art, culture, and, of course, sneakers. Click through our gallery for an exclusive look inside.
