Golden Globes Announces 2024 Nominees: ‘Barbie,’ ‘Oppenheimer,’ ‘Succession’ & More

The Golden Globes have returned to kick off the 2024 awards season. Held on Jan. 7, the ceremony will honor the top film and television performances, productions and more from the last year.

On Monday, the annual event’s nominees were announced by Wilmer Valderrama and Cedric the Entertainer in Beverly Hills. Within the film category, the nominations were led by “Barbie” with nine nominations (including Greta Gerwig, Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling), followed by “Oppenheimer” (8 nominations). This year’s lineup will also feature a new award for best cinematic and box office achievement — for top-earning films with total grosses of at least $150 million — whose nominees include “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,” “Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse” and “John Wick: Chapter 4,” according to Variety.

The television categories are led by HBO Max’s “Succession” with 9 nominations, followed by “Only Murders in the Building” and “The Bear” (5 nominations). A new award for stand-up comedy and television has also been introduced, featuring nominees including Chris Rock, Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes.
