Golden Globes 2019 live: Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh host award ceremony
The Golden Globes nominations in full, with Bohemian Rhapsody and A Star is Born among favourites

Hollywood raises the curtain on award season tonight, with the Golden Globes being staged in an atmosphere notably different to last year.
While the 2018 ceremony is remembered for being the first awards of the post-Weinstein era – nominees wearing black and bringing survivors of sexual assault as their guests; Oprah Winfrey making an impassioned speech against the macho culture that has presided for so long – the 2019 ceremony promises to be far lighter in tone.
For a start, stylists are predicting a dazzling array of dresses. The spring/summer 2019 catwalks were a kaleidoscope of neons, and the red carpet may well reflect that – furthermore, Lady Gaga is nominated for her role in A Star Is Born, so her stylists will likely be pulling out all the stops.
The awards, held in the Beverly Hills Hotel, feature nominees from both television and film, selected by the 90-odd members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HPFA). That makes for a convivial, fun atmosphere – as does the fact, unlike with other awards, alcohol and food is served.
Hosts Sandra Oh, star of the BBC’s Killing Eve, and comedian Andy Samberg from Brooklyn Nine Nine, have also said they’ll steer clear of politics, and keep the show fizzing.
"Everyone is depressed, and maybe that's as good a reason as any that everyone could use a little time to laugh and celebrate," said Samberg.
"Not to ignore anything, but we spend so much time every day wallowing in a lot of things that are happening in our world that are really depressing, and with good reason — that stuff needs to be paid attention to — but there's also power to being positive and celebratory in the tougher times as well."
Oh agreed, saying they hoped to bring “a moment of joy”.
Claire Foy on her best supporting actress nomination
Claire Foy, in a gorgeous yellow dress, is asked about her role in First Man, playing the wife of Neil Armstrong.
She is nominated for best supporting actress.
She is asked how she prepared for the role, and said it was by speaking to Janet Armstrong's relatives and friends.
You immediately fall in love with her, because Janet was amazingly kind.
Rick and Mark (her sons) sent me an email, which was really kind. Then at the Toronto Film Festival they told me in front of about 2,000 people, and I lost it!
She passed away earlier this year, and so it meant a lot to me.
She is then asked about how, at the Emmys in September, she was turned away from the Governor's Ball after-party - and only saved when Jonathan Van Ness, from Queer Eye, told the security guards who she was.
I have brought my passport! Anything I can to get in! I brought my sister with me to vouch for me.
Penelope Cruz on playing Donatella
Penelope Cruz, in Ralph and Russo, was asked about her role as Donatella Versace.
The television series The Assassination of Gianni Versace is leading the television nominations, and is up for four awards.
She said:
The most challenging component was the voice.
It's the accent, but also she has a very peculiar way of speaking. It was months and months of work with my voice coach. I listened to tapes and watched videos - I was obsessed with her!
She was not involved in the series, so when I was offered the role I said yes, but first I have to call her. And she said if someone is going to do it, I'm happy it's you. I think she knew I had a lot of respect for her.

But the film to beat tonight is Vice, the story of Dick Cheney, starring Christian Bale, which nominated in six categories.
Hot on its heels come Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's A Star is Born, plus Queen Anne drama The Favourite and road-trip film Green Book - all nominated for five.
In television, FX series The Assassination of Gianni Versace won the most nominations in the television category with four nods.
Red carpet style predictions
As the first awards ceremony of the season, and following from last year's sombre, all-black affair, the stars are looking to make a big splash this year.
I've been speaking to stylist Giulia J Papailias, better known as @TheCrazyShoeWoman, to get her predictions for red carpet style.
She told me:
I do have an early prediction!
I feel that J-Lo set the bar at her Second Act premier with her Giambattista Valli, over-the-top train, and that has inspired everyone.
But the woman of the award season, who I predict will have an iconic, Hollywood defining moment, is Lady Gaga. Her glamour will be epic!
Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron, Thandie Newton and Rosamund Pike will all be stunning and statuesque.
Julia Roberts most likely will choose from Valentino or Armani, depending on which she saves for the Oscars if nominated. Her smile is everything.
I'm really excited to see what Emily Blunt, Emma Stone, Regina King, Kerri Russel , Debra Messing and Sandra Oh wear.
And Constance Wu will be have all the young newcomers eyes’ on her. Very nerve-racking to see her choice .
British star Claire Foy may well also spark a new young fashion trend .
I predict that Amy Adams, will be in Tom Ford this award season and most likely a plunging décolleté.
Rachel Weisz’s best accessory is Daniel Craig, she is a beautiful woman and they will both be simple and sexy.
Penelope Cruz has every option from Chanel Haute Couture, and her and Javier Bardem are pure red carpet glamour.
Olivia Coleman will be dressed simple and elegant .
Glenn Close and Candice Bergen may be nail biters, but I believe they will be very sophisticated.
And finally, look out for Caitriona Balfe or Rachel Brosnahan, who could knock it out of the park...
