Golden Globe 2024 Winner Lily Gladstone Shines in Custom Valentino and Talks Representation on the Red Carpet

Lily Gladstone, the eventual winner of Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for “Killers of the Flower Moon,” arrived at the Golden Globe Awards 2024 in Los Angeles on Sunday, wearing a white strapless custom gown from Valentino.
The actress wore a classic gown in bright white which featured a strapless neckline, extended princess seams and a gathered train. Gladstone was also draped in a ruffled black satin shawl, which she wore slightly off the shoulder. She accessorized with a large bedazzled necklace and matching earrings.

Gladstone worked with stylist Jason Rembert, who dressed several stars on the Golden Globes red carpet, including Shameik Moore in Saint Laurent and Aminah Nieves in Azzizi & Osta.
In a red carpet interview with WWD, Gladstone revealed she wore Valentino because it worked well when she wore the designer on the Cannes red carpet in May 2023.
Gladstone also reiterated her thankfulness for the opportunity to be present at the Golden Globes. “I feel like I have to thank you for all the representation, not just about Indigenous women, but you teach us how to stand for black lives. You teach us to stop Asian hate. Tell us the message when it comes to how we need to stand united. What is it that we need to know?”
Gladstone continued, emphasizing the importance of representation. “It’s important to be proud of what makes us different, what makes us unique. If we’re really embracing an equal pluralistic society, it’s because we feel confident in who we are, because we feel seen, because we feel represented. So when we have representation, it only goes to create a more just more equitable society. Because there are lot of people who learn how to be and by watching movies, TV and film. They accompany us through our whole lives, our favorite programs, and when we start seeing ourselves, we feel proud of who we are and then we’re excited to learn about who other people are as well.”
The 81st annual Golden Globe Awards, held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, celebrate the biggest achievements across film and television in 2023. It is produced by Dick Clark Productions, which is owned by WWD parent company Penske Media Corp. Ahead of the ceremony, WWD hosted its first real-time red carpet digital show, co-hosted by Jeannie Mai, highlighting the looks from the red carpet arrivals.
