Some of us (me) were fully committed to making The Golden Bachelor our entire personality before the show even premiered, but one episode in and Gerry Turner has officially captured what remains of our hearts. Truly wish I was 70 so I could RUN to politely push these other ladies over and steal his rose.

And fair enough, because Gerry appears to be a catch: He's nice, he's charming (that move with the cupcake? Flawless), and his only red flag appears to be agreeing to join Bachelor Nation as a willing participant. Also, he seems kinda rich? At least based on the fact that he lives in what appears to be a very nice house by the water (heartbreakingly, the dream home he purchased with his wife before she passed away) and plays pickleball in his free time.

Which brings us to today's question and answer session.

Q: What, Pray Tell, Does Bachelor Gerry Turner Do for Work?

A: He Used to Work in Restaurants!

To be clear: Gerry is currently living his best life and enjoying retirement, as! he! should! In fact, according to ABC, Gerry specifically spends his time "hosting barbecues, playing pickleball, cheering on his favorite Chicago sports teams, four-wheeling, and spending time with friends and family at restaurants and local haunts.”

But before he settled into a life of lakeside Indiana luxury, Gerry was a successful restauranteur. He hasn't spoken publicly about his restaurants, but fortunately the internet never fails to deliver and we did some sleuthing.

Back in July 2023, reliable Bachelor spoiler source Reality Steve dropped Gerry's LinkedIn:

Which tells us several things. For one, Gerry was a franchise owner of Mr. Quick Restaurants in the '70s, becoming partner in 1978 and then becoming the sole-owner a year later.

Frankly, this photo has left me with questions:

But very much here for this artistic display:

Anyway, Gerry also had a brief stint as a training director at Sbarro in the early aughts, and was a general manager at King Food Service, where he "increased sales from $7.8M to $8.9M in 2002 over 2001." Solid job, Gerry.

After that, our collective grandpa worked at Gold's Gym, where he was "responsible for building management team for new owner group through recruiting and staff development." Sounds fancy, but he left in 2004 and moved to Rock River Provision, where he was the director of sales and marketing.

Note: LinkedIn says he still does this job (it's listed as July 2004 to present...so....19 years), but it's been reported multiple times that Gerry has retired. And frankly his obsession with pickleball tells us everything we need to know about how much free time he has on his hands, so gonna assume that's a LinkedIn error.

Speaking of being retired: Due to the fact Gerry doesn't have a job tying him down, it seems like there could be some flexibility when it comes to where he will spend his future golden years. Expect this to be a topic he and his contestants dig into as their connections get deeper—especially since pretty much all of them are close to their respective families (and a lot of them live near grandchildren!).

But no matter where Ger Bear lands, we wish him all the best on his adventures.

GOOD LUCK, GERRY!
