Going Underground Records moves to new location, will host Record Store Day Saturday April 20

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Music and movie collectors will soon have two vintage havens to call home. Going Underground Records is on its last days at its current location on 19th Street, but you won’t have to travel far to find it’s new location.

The record shop will be moving two doors down into a 4,000-square-foot storefront at 1304 19th St., bringing over 10,000 records for you to browse and enjoy.

The record store’s grand opening weekend is April 26 to 28. Grand opening hours will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

The shop’s current location will also mark the return of Going Underground Video and extended hours for its grand opening. The video shop will be taking over the 1312 19th St. location on April 26, store owner Ronald Ramirez said.

Going Underground Video will feature a large collection of DVDs, VHS tapes, vintage T.V.s, DVD and VHS players.

The shop will remain open through the weekend just in time Record Store Day is Saturday, April 20. beginning at 9 a.m. Record Store Day will feature fresh limited releases and hundreds of other new and used records to choose from.

Mango Haus is scheduled to join the grand opening on April 27 and will serve delicious bites for you to enjoy while you crate-dig.

Going Underground’s last day at the 1312 location will be Monday, April 22, and will temporary close until its grand re-opening next week.

Downtown Fineline Tattoo Shop will also be offering flash tattoos on April 26 at 10 a.m. You will have five Going Underground designs to choose from, as well as, five other classic tattoo designs as part of the deal.
