Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire Director Teases Another Sequel

Fans have been anticipating the return of two ancient titans on the big screen, and this Friday, they will finally have a chance to catch Godzilla x Kong in theaters.

A follow-up to his 2021 film Godzilla vs. Kong, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire sees the two rivals having to pair up like never before, and Adam Wingard said in an interview that he "definitely [thinks] there's more story to" the Godzilla and Kong universe.

Speaking to Discussing Film, Wingard detailed his plans regarding another MonsterVerse sequel.

"The whole idea that if you've done two movies, like, maybe you should just go ahead and do a third because, as you said, there's a trilogy in there," Wingard said. "It just depends on how [Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire] does and how things kind of shape out."

Wingard said, "I do have more story to tell with these monsters, and I know where I'd go with it. I would be very excited to be able to come back on for another one if things worked out!"

So there's a hope that the two titans will collide once more on screen, even if there is yet to be definitive confirmation.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire features Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Dan Stevens, Kaylee Hottle, Alex Ferns and Fala Chen.

Plenty of clips have dropped in the lead-up to release, including one of Kong riding Godzilla and a monumental MonsterVerse showdown.

Now, there are just a few more days until the mysteries of Skull Island are unravelled and Kong and Godzilla clash once more.
