Goat Who Was Rescued While Grieving Her Baby Gets New Teddy Bear to Curl Up To

You can tell a lot about a person by the way they treat animals. Even from a simple interaction such as meeting a dog can reveal a person's true colors, but when someone dedicates their life to rescuing animals, you know they are truly selfless. Rescuing animals is not an easy job!

It can be difficult when a newly rescued animal arrives at a sanctuary like Rancho Relaxo in New Jersey, but once they're settled in, the healing process can truly begin. This is when animal rescuers can finally relax and pat themselves on the back, knowing their new residents are safe and sound.

Animal rescuer Caitlin is experiencing this with Cecilia, a mama goat she recently rescued after her baby was taken away. Though the animal is still grieving, the comfort of a new teddy bear is starting to help her heal. The December 21 TikTok video shows it all!

At first, my heart broke for the sweet mama goat and her newborn, whom @boochaces couldn't get back. But as I saw Cecilia getting more comfortable and allowing herself to relax, my heart was on the mend. Despite her unimaginable grief, she's going to be OK thanks to her resilience and her friends' generosity.

In fact, it was a viewer who sent in this teddy bear for the animal! It was the first of many gifts for the rescue goat, and it definitely made her quarantine pen look a lot more comfortable and fun. Basically, the bear is a perfect new friend for her until she can meet her goat friends. How sweet is that?

Animals Grieve Too & Here's How to Help

It's not exactly a secret that some animals grieve the loss of their loved ones, but it's also not clear what grief looks like in each animal species. Sometimes, though, animal grief may look awfully familiar to people. Elephants--for example--both mourn and bury their dead, while dogs grieve the losses of both people and animals in their lives.

Giraffes, monkeys, and even dolphins are also animals that grieve, though it's highly unlikely that they're the only ones. Many pet species and zoo animals have reportedly acted depressed after experiencing the death of a loved one, and it's clear that more research is needed to truly understand animals', like squirrels', grief processes.

Cecilia the white goat isn't alone in her grief, and she's certainly not the only one who takes comfort in stuffed animals. Watching her warm up to her plushie is simply magical, and I can't wait to see what her life is going to be like when she gets to meet her other farm animal friends.
