After years of feeling like a chore, applying SPF has never been easier—or more fun. Brands are not only cranking out formulas that disappear into skin and play well with makeup, but exciting products that look like whipped cream, add a gorgeous glow, and even add a flush while they protect your skin. However, while there are plenty of options for your initial layer of protection, reapplying through the day is still a pain. That being said, Glow Recipe's new launch makes actually remembering to re-apply SPF a reality. Enter: The Watermelon Glow Dew Balm SPF 45 ($30).

The brand's newest launch re-imagines their best-selling Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Drops ($35) into a balm form for on-the-go use with added SPF protection. It has all the amazing qualities of the drops, from the refreshing feel to the dewy glow, just in a balm form—perfect for adding a cool dose of hydration during a warm summer day.

Ahead, get all the details on the the brand's newest SPF innovation, plus team Byrdie's honest reviews.

The Inspiration

The Watermelon Glow Dew Drops remain a must-have product from the brand even though they were released four years ago—they're just that good. According to the brand, one Dew Drops sells every 12 seconds globally.

So, if you're a fan of the OG drops, you're likely to love the new SPF balm. The hydrating stick has all the good stuff from the drops—like niacinamide, watermelon (of course), and hylaronic acid—and combines these ingredients with a broad spectrum chemical SPF 45 for a multi-use serum and SPF hybrid.

The Formula

The skincare-first formula claims to help reduce hyperpigmentation and brighten your complexion over time. Just like the original Glow Drops, the Glow Balm is packed with niacinamide. The do-it-all ingredient works to reduce pore size, brighten dull complexions, and treat hyperpigmentation over time. Hylaronic acid is what gives the balm its plumping and hydrating touch, along with watermelon seed and squalane oil, which hydrate and soothe the skin.

For those who prefer a chemical sunscreen, you're in luck. The SPF 45 has a PA rating of +++ and uses chemical filters to protect against UVA and UVB rays. The stick can be used before makeup, after makeup, or for extra SPF protection and a dewy glow across the cheekbones.

"I love an SPF stick and that Glow Recipe has made it super easy to stay dewy and protected this summer. Upon application, the SPF has an uplifting watermelon scent that is sweet without being overpowering. It has a silky, slick texture that allowed it glide on like a dream and provided a dewy base for the rest of my face makeup. I found that it layered perfectly with a skin tint and with my full coverage foundation. It provides a dewy base that shines through the makeup, and gives off a pretty glow. I’m a fan! "

"I was a fan of Glow Recipe’s initial Watermelon Glow sunscreen, and I’m happy to report that this new launch fits just as seamlessly into my routine. The lightweight formula goes on smoothly and transparently, so I didn’t have to spend much time blending it out. I found this SPF to layer well with my other skincare and makeup products, plus the niacinamide provides a subtle glow boost. The stick format couldn’t be easier to use, and I definitely see myself swiping it on regularly throughout the summer—and maybe even carrying it in my bag to finally get better about reapplication."

"While I typically don’t use sunscreen sticks, I was eager to try Glow Recipe’s newest launch. Since the SPF stick is an extension of the Dew Drop family, I expected the formula to deliver immense hydration and glow. And unsurprisingly, I wasn’t disappointed. After applying my moisturizer, I glided the stick across my face and immediately noticed a more radiant complexion. My skin also felt incredibly dewy and moisturized. On the days when I’m not wearing makeup, I love that I can easily reapply the formula and keep my skin protected.
