We have yet to see if our president will actually bring back the jobs he promised rural coal miners, but it looks like the folks at Glossier are taking the initiative to bring some more jobs to the New York City area. New York City Governor Andrew Cuomo announced in a press release that the cult favorite beauty brand plans to create 282 new jobs, and to support them, Empire State Development is giving them "$3 million in performance-based tax credits through the Excelsior Jobs Program."

As part of their plans for expansion, Glossier is set to build up several aspects of their brand, including marketing, finance, and operations. Last year, Glossier raised $24 million in Series B round funding to expand their brand. Glossier founder Emily Weiss noted they would use the money in part to fund brick-and-mortar retail and plans to ship internationally. To accommodate their growth, Glossier will leave their 123 Lafayette street HQ for new digs at 161 6th Avenue. Talk about movin' on up!

"We are grateful for New York State's support in expanding our team in New York City," Glossier founder Emily Weiss said in a statement. "It’s where we’ve grown from a beauty blog to a beauty brand and built our community. We are incredibly excited to continue building a team in downtown New York City who will work to further Glossier's mission of empowering women to feel proud of who they are today."

The takeaway: If you're looking for a job in New York, Glossier just might be your next gig!
