What happened between Glenn Hoddle and David Beckham?
One of the most revealing scenes in Beckham sees the footballer opening up about his depression following the 1998 World Cup, when he was made "public enemy number one" thanks to receiving a red card during a game again Argentina.
After he was sent off for kicking a member of the opposite team, England went on to lose the game on penalties, with manager Glenn Hoddle telling the press he held David responsible and that he felt he had let the country down. Glenn resigned from the England manager position in 1999.

Glenn doesn't feature in the Beckham documentary, but its director Fisher Stevens revealed to talkSPORT that they reached out to the England manager a number of times. Asked why he wasn't in the series, Fisher said, "Well why don't we call him right now and ask him? I called him and asked him to be in it many times.
"I mean, I didn't personally, but we contacted his people. I guess he just wasn't interested in being in the series."

While neither David or Glenn have publicly addressed what their relationship is like since the 1998 World Cup, it doesn't sound particularly amicable.
During the Netflix documentary, David's wife Victoria berated him, saying, "Glenn Hoddle didn't come out and try to protect him. And how old was David, 23? You're a kid at 23.
"Glenn Hoddle was a man. I wouldn't say a man actually, he was an older person."
Meanwhile, David's mum Sandra shared a similar sentiment: "Hoddle is on my hit-list… of people that upset me. I thought, ‘What have you done?’ He made out that it was David’s fault. And we’d been used to a manager… Alex Ferguson never spoke about his team."
