If you're looking to spend some time in the great outdoors, but aren't a fan of the classic tent and sleeping bag combo, it's time to give glamping a try.

The Northeast is home to some of the most beautiful forests and mountains, and there's an abundance of glampsites — "glamour" + "camping" = "glamping" — that offer an immersive nature experience with the benefit of modern, luxurious living. But, these sites do book up fast, so if you're looking to level up your camping trip this summer, now's the time to act.

If you don't mind a trip that involves a bit of driving, consider booking a stay at Adirondack Safari in Warrensburg, New York. Recently recognized as the eighth-best glamping destination in the nation by The Dyrt, Adirondack Safari is a sprawling luxury-tent camping site located along Schroon River and just minutes from Lake George.

From June 14 to Sept. 2, guests are invited to stay in one of the sites six differently-themed tent styles, including Classic, Adirondack, Island, India, Luxe and Native American. Each tent also comes with all of your glamping necessities, including queen beds with bedding, rugs, lamps, a fan, an outdoor fire pit, a charcoal grill and covered picnic tables.

Adirondack Safari also offers daily activities that are included with your stay, including outdoor movies, river tubing, volleyball, corn hole and live entertainment. Paint classes led by local artists are also held daily at 4 p.m. for an additional $20 per person. And, if you'd like to explore outside of the glampgrounds, there's a variety of local attractions nearby.

This is the ultimate glamping adventure, but with a twist: Your cabin will be located in the middle of the amusement park's Wild Safari, which is home to more than 1,200 animals across 350 acres.

With a total of 20 luxury suites that can fit up to six people each, a stay at the Savannah Sunset Resort and Spa includes breakfast, daily morning giraffe feedings, evening events, daily tickets for each Six Flags Great Adventure park for every guest and the chance to book a VIP tour.

For an option that's a little closer to home, but no less grand and luxurious, look no further than Moon Valley Campground. Located at the base of Wawayanda mountain between the Stairway to Heaven and Pochuck Boardwalk hikes on the Appalachian Trail, Moon Valley Campground offers a relaxing getaway in style.

Here, you can choose between five different camping sites, including The Lookout, Hilltop Hideaway and Heavens Landing. Each of these sites include a queen bed with fresh bedding, a pop-up tent for extra guests, a battery bank and a battery-operated fan, as well as a fire pit and picnic table.

Guests can also visit the Valley Farmers Cooperative at the entrance of the property, which sells local grass-fed meats and artisanal farm goods, or take a walk to nearby Heaven Hill Farms for farm goods and produce, as well as family-friendly seasonal activities.

AutoCamp Catskills, Saugerties

Another glamping site that requires a trip to upstate New York − but is totally worth it − is AutoCamp Catskills in Saugerties, New York.

The site offers five different accommodation styles, including airstreams, cabins, family cabins, basecamps and luxury tents. Each option includes a flat-screen TV with a Bluetooth audio system, a kitchenette with cooking and storage essentials, a modern spa-inspired bathroom, luxury bath products and towels, as well as heating and air conditioning.

For food, you can enjoy a la carte option from the site's kitchen and general store. And for entertainment, you can explore the historic towns of Woodstock and Saugerties, hike the many trails throughout the Catskill Mountains, relax at the site's classic Hudson Valley-style Clubhouse or participate in AutoCamp activities like forest bathing, natural dyeing, yoga and weekly campfire music.

Panther Lake Camping Resort, Andover

Tucked away in the 160 wooded acres surrounding the 45-acre Panther Lake, Panther Lake Camping Resort gives you the traditional camping experience with upscale cabin living.

With seven different cabin floorplans that include amenities like full-sized refrigerators, stoves and ovens, coffee makers, heating and air-conditioning, as well as picnic tables, fire rings and grills outside, you'll feel right at home. The cabins don't include linens though, so be sure to pack necessities like sheets, blankets, pillows, towels, dish soap and paper products.

Panther Lake Camping Resort also has a ton of activities available, like volleyball, tennis and pickleball courts, as well as a game room, fishing dock and a hiking trail.
