Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci Brings A Much Needed Dose of Fun to Milan Fashion Week

Thank God for Givenchy! Literally, we are in the middle of Milan Fashion Week and we’ve had nice cocktails and great dinner parties with fun fashion families, but what Milan has been lacking is a damn fun party! That was until last night when Riccardo Tisci rolled into town to open a new Givenchy store and to sit front row at the Versace show. Afterwards, the designer threw a bash at an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town. The crowd gathering outside felt similar to one you would find outside a club in Ibiza— you’d think these fashion kids had never been to a party before! Well, maybe not like this one. Inside, it was Tisci’s own Disneyland!

There was a basketball court where dudes clad in black were shooting hoops while just around the corner it was snowing. It was fake snow falling but why not? If you ventured deeper into the mayhem, you entered into “Mad Max” meets “Lost Boys” meets Rob Zombie territory. There were abandoned cars with women milling about in teeny leather and Givenchy face jewelry. There were people playing guitars, pole dancers and the usual late night fashion pack taking selfies. Then of course there was the VIP area, which was filled with models of the moment like Binx Walton, Jamie Bochert and Mica Arganaraz and Tisci’s closest family and friends. As if that was not enough, Nicki Minaj performed and sounded amazing— like I had paid good money to hear her at the Barclays Center or something.

So repeat after me: all hail Riccardo Tisci and Givenchy for bringing the party to Milan!
