Sadly, the couple recently announced their divorce after 13 years of marriage, filing official documents in Florida on October 28, after weeks of living apart, per ESPN. The couple both posted an announcement about the divorce on their Instagrams, but more details are yet to come. That being said, there’s could be a lot of discussions about all that $$$ during the proceedings. A few details about their prenup have leaked, but more on that in a second.
With all that, it’s understandable to wonder about Gisele’s net worth. (Spoiler alert: She’s going to be just fine.) Here’s a look back at how she got so rich.
She was discovered in a mall.
Yep, way back in 1994, Gisele was discovered in a shopping center by an agent for Elite Model Management, which is one of the biggest modeling agencies in the world, according to Brittanica. She was just 14 at the time.
Things really picked up for her at the turn of the century, though: Gisele entered her agency’s Look of the Year contest in 2000, and placed second in the country and fourth in the world, Brittanica says. Gisele didn’t just model—she was “the” model. In fact, she was the highest paid model in the world from 2002 until 2017, according to Forbes. She didn’t just slide into first place—she obliterated the competition.
In 2016, Gisele made $30.5 million, Forbes reported, which was a whopping $20 million more than second-place finisher Adriana Lima. Phew!

Gisele has a line of sandals with Grendene, and her own Ipanema line makes up 63 percent of Grendene’s annual exports, according to Forbes.
