Gisele Bündchen Opens Up About Her Divorce From Tom Brady: 'Breakups Are Never Easy'

The world was shocked last year when Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen announced that they were ending their marriage after 13 years. Since then, the former couple's lives have been put under a magnifying glass, which Bündchen now says has made the split even more difficult.

The 43-year-old model appears on the cover of the latest issue of Vogue Brasil, where she opened up about her divorce from Brady—albeit, without naming her ex specifically.

"I've always trusted that every situation, no matter how challenging, has something to teach us and happens for our growth," Bündchen explained. "Breakups are never easy, especially when there's a whole media speculating every step of the way."

"I tried to focus on my children, my health and my projects and dreams," she added.

Bündchen's remarks come in the wake of Brady having apparently moved on with Russian model Irina Shayk. There have been conflicting reports over how Bündchen initially felt about her ex's new relationship, with one source claiming that she was "upset" at first.

"It made things more real," the source dished to the Daily Mail last month. "The emotions from that, especially after sharing children, were as emotional as it gets but then she knew she couldn’t hold on to something that was never going to return. She knew this day would come and she honestly would love nothing more than for Tom to be happy."

Meanwhile, Bündchen has been linked by the media to her jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente and billionaire Jeffrey Soffer. Both are rumors she has since shut down, which only serves to illustrate her point.
