A new girls name tops Rhode Island's most popular baby names list. See the top 100

When it comes to baby names, they go in and out of style, but over the past few years, there have been a few names that held their popularity in America and Rhode Island.

The Social Security Administration released the top 100 most popular baby names by state for both boys and girls, and the results are similar to — but not exactly the same as — last year.

For boys, the top name, for the third year in a row in Rhode Island is Liam, followed by Noah and then Owen.

For the girls name, there's a new name at the top of the list, though it's been in the top five in the Ocean State for the past four years and claimed the top spot once in that time. It's Charlotte, followed by Amelia and then Isabella.

What are the top baby names in the U.S.?

Liam tops the ranking in the United States as well as in Rhode Island, followed by Noah and then Oliver. Liam has been the top name in the country since 2017.

For girls, Olivia is the top name in the United States and has held that spot since 2019, followed by Emma and then Charlotte. In Rhode Island, Olivia ranks in the six spot.

The top three name rankings for 2022 nationally were identical to 2021.
