Girl Scout Cookies Are Now Available to Order Online

If ever there was a time for Thin Mints, it's now, right?

As most Americans shelter at home during the coronavirus pandemic, some Girl Scout Cookies would be comforting. Because of the current global health crisis, the Girl Scouts of the USA has suspended door-to-door sales and the cookie booths you'd often see outside grocery stores, but you can now place orders online.

"Interrupting your scrolling and #COVID19 news with a sweet announcement: You can buy Girl Scout Cookies online! Order now and have them shipped to your door—or donate ’em to comfort first responders, front-line workers, and local causes in need," the organization tweeted on March 27.

The Cookie Care program—which has the tagline "Eat. Share. Show Communities We Care"—has a hub page where you can enter your zip code and see different troops in your area to support with your online order. Previously, individual Girl Scouts could sell cookies via a personal digital cookie platform and link (and there was a donate option), but this revamped program offers a new, safer option for everyone to get their Samoas, Thin Mints, and Tagalongs.

"For 108 years, Girl Scouts has been there in times of crisis and turmoil," Sylvia Acevedo, CEO of Girl Scouts of the USA, told USA Today. "And today we are stepping forward with new initiatives to help girls, their families, and consumers connect, explore, find comfort, and take action."

The website also notes that when you buy Girl Scout cookies, you're not just feeding your sweet tooth, but helping fund the Scouts and your local community. "You’re helping sustain life-changing, girl-led programs, experiences, and learning for local Girl Scouts. You’re also making it possible for them to support the causes they care about most, especially in challenging times like these," the site reads. "Every year, girls decide exactly what to do with their earnings—and 100% of the money stays local! In fact, cookies have helped Girl Scouts give back to our communities ever since the first-known sale of cookies by Girl Scouts in 1917."

We'll take 10 boxes, thanks.
