This Girl Made Her Dog a Matching Prom Dress
Sure, there's a dramatic viral promposal story every three seconds now, but now that all the asking is done, what about actual heartwarming prom stories?
Meet Brenda Cross, an 18-year-old high school senior from Florida, who crafted a matching dress for her dachshund, Sasha. Brenda told BuzzFeed News, she used a hot glue gun and extra fabric from the hem of her dress to make the one-of-a-kind piece.

Brenda first adopted the 7-year-old pup two years ago from the Humane Society. "She's like a daughter to me and we just get each other so well, so she goes everywhere with me," Brenda explained. "She's the only pet in the house [right now], and the one who gets the most attention in the house as well."
Brenda, who has dressed up Sasha in the past for occasions ranging from birthday parties to going out to the beach, says Sasha tolerates it all very well.
Brenda, who calls herself a very hands-on person, fashioned the dress from scratch without using a tutorial and says it took her the whole day. Not bad considering it was her first attempt at a dress for Sasha!
Brenda's friend and prom date Rodney Sesler, 19, thought the idea was hilarious when she told him. And while she couldn't bring Sasha to her actual prom, the trio did manage to have a pretty nice photo shoot regardless.
When the notifications started pouring in while she was at prom, she said it shocked all of her friends. "I never expected it to get this much attention," she explained.
Of course, people's reactions were pretty amazing.
@_brendasierra Wow this was the best prom thing I've ever seen

Even though there was this guy who (falsely) claimed to have "done it better."

People were quick to put him in his place.

@seanmckernan421 @_brendasierra idk dude
She put hella effort into that dress & you strapped a dog to your chest
Gonna give her the W- Anna Potsch (@acpotsch) May 2, 2017
But let's not make this an example of men trying to take credit for things women have done better. At the end of the day, Brenda wins prom ... with Sasha trailing closely behind at no. 2.
As for future plans, Brenda says she's seen people commenting that they'd want to do this with their own dogs for prom and that she wouldn't mind helping them or giving them a hand. "It's definitely a moment I'll never forget and would love to pass that on to others."
