This Girl Got Stuck Inside a Barney Costume and The Fire Department Had to Cut Her Out
Joking around with your friends and a stuffed Barney head: hilarious.
Getting trapped inside that Barney head for 45 minutes: not hilarious at all.
Darby Risner, a 15-year-old girl from Trussville, Alabama, was at a friend's house when she spotted a Barney head lying around. She knew it had originally belonged to her pastor, she told BuzzFeed, and that it had been passed around a group of friends. She wanted to prank her friends, so she slipped on the Barney head and decided to scare them with it.
"I thought to myself, 'I'll be fine, I can get it off whenever,'" Darcy told BuzzFeed.
Except for just one problem: when the head started getting hot and uncomfortable around the 15-minute mark, she couldn't get it off.
Her friends worked hard to get the head off, but Darby was completely stuck. They even smothered her in petroleum jelly, hoping she'd slip out, but that didn't work, either.
"Finally, they had face the fact that it wasn't coming off," Darby told BuzzFeed. "It wasn't moving anytime that we tried."
She could've called the fire department and asked them to come to the house to help, but she didn't want to draw too much attention to the situation (since the fire truck's sirens would go off). So instead, some friends helped her carefully climb into the car and they drove to the fire station for assistance.
Three fire fighters went to work on Darby, cutting the head off and pulling her out, she told Seventeen.com.
Finally, she was free!
"I may have learned my lesson, but maybe not," Darby told BuzzFeed. "I've been stuck in many things before."
