Like a lot of students, Jessica Casanova looked to celebrities for prom dress inspiration. But instead of emulating a celebrity look, the 17-year-old got to wear an actual dress courtesy of Gina Rodriguez.

Back in February, Casanova, who attends the Charter School for Applied Technologies in Buffalo, N.Y., tweeted to the Jane the Virgin star saying she’d love to wear the navy blue Zac Posen gown Rodriguez wore to the Golden Globes to her high school dance. Rodriguez responded saying she didn’t own that particular piece, but she asked if Casanova would like to borrow the black Badgley Mischka gown she wore to the 2015 ceremony, where she won for Best Actress in a TV Series, Musical or Comedy.

“Where do you live? I only own my first Globes dress the one from last year…maybe we can make this happen,” Rodriguez wrote. And she did. On Thursday night, Casanova attended the prom wearing Rodriguez’s black strapless dress with a sheer, fringe hemline. While the dress was tailored to fit Rodriguez, Casanova said that it fit like a glove. “It feels really good,” she told the Buffalo News.

Another fan, who also hoped to wear the black gown, proposed a Sisterhood of the Traveling Golden Globes dress, and Rodriguez said, “I just melted. I swear I was just talking about this in the makeup/hair trailer on set.”
