Gillette Announces Recall of Venus Simply3 Disposable Razors

Here's what you need to know.

You may want to double-check the contents of your shower caddy, because Gillette announced a recall of 87,000 of its Venus Simply3 disposable razors. The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall, effective June 27, Fortune reported, with the company expressing concern regarding a misalignment of the blades.

If you do remember making a recent razor purchase, here's all of the details regarding the recall you need to know. The Venus Simply 3 disposable comes in three colors: pink, purple, and yellow, and the recall is for two types of packaging: a Venus Simply3 Disposable Razor 4-pack and a Daisy 12+1 Venus Simply3 Bonus Pack, which also included one additional Venus Simply3 razor.

The recall impacts Venus Simply3 4-count pack razors that have lot numbers 9003A17400 and 9007A17400 and the UPC code 047400315358, and Daisy 12 + 1 Venus Simply3 razors with lot number 9009A17400 and UPC code 047400300712. You can find the lot numbers on the right or left side of the plastic package, and the UPC code can be found inside the package adjacent to the bar code.

According to the recall, the misaligned blades could cause an increased risk of cuts during shaving; one customer had already reportedly experienced this side effect. The razors retailed for between $6 and $10, and were sold from January 2019 through May 2019.

For those that did purchase the razor, Gillette is warning against continued use. Instead, customers are asked to contact the company for a postage-paid return packaging. You can contact Gillette at at 800-362-1258 or through its online safety portal.

In a statement posted on its website, Gillette addressed the recall, writing, "We’re disappointed to share that a temporary manufacturing issue resulted in about 500 Venus Simply3 Disposable Razors in North America being released which are more likely to cut during normal use. While this is a very small amount out of over 3 million razors produced each month, we have decided to replace any potentially impacted Venus Simply3 disposable razors produced during this limited timeframe. The recall includes 87,000 packages of razors within which 500 Venus Simply3 disposable razors are estimated to be affected. Our priority is the safety and confidence of the millions...who trust us with their personal care needs and will revisit our quality systems and procedures to maintain the highest possible standards."
