Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik have been clear about their desire to preserve the privacy of their one-year-old daughter, Khai Hadid Malik, by keeping pictures of her face offline. Despite their apprehension, the superstar couple has allowed a rare look at their daughter in honor of her first birthday. On Sunday, Yolanda Hadid, Gigi's mom, posted several snaps with her granddaughter.

The post followed Khai (dressed in the most adorable little outfits) as she fed a baby cow, pet a baby goat, rode a horse, sat in front of crystals, and walked alongside her grandmother. Sticking to Gigi and Zayn's wish to keep Khai offline, each picture in the post caught glimpses of the tiny tot without exposing her face.

Yolanda shared a sweet birthday message writing, "Happy first birthday to our Angel Khai….No words can express how much love and joy you have brought into our lives in just one year…" She continued, "I had to grow a whole other heart to absorb it all, you are such a magical little being that brings us smiles and blessings every day."

She added a heartwarming message to Khai's parents at the end of her post. "Thank you to your incredible mamma @gigihadid and bubba @zayn for the greatest gift of life!! #Khai"

Gigi opened up about her decision to keep Khai offline during a trip to New York City in June 2021. "Our wish is that she can choose how to share herself with the world when she comes of age and that she can live as normal of a childhood as possible, without worrying about a public image that she has not chosen," the proud mom wrote on Twitter.

Along with explaining the reason behind her request, she shared several ways photographers and fans could help. "It would mean the world to us, as we ake our daughter to see and explore NYC and the world if you would PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE blur her face out of the images, if and when she is caught on camera. I know it's an extra effort, but as a new mom, I just want the best for my baby, as all parents do... and I hope this can continue the conversation to protect minors in the media, even if they come from a public family."

As it stands, the paparazzi has honored Gigi's wishes, and photos of Khai's face have yet to make their way online.
