Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik Were Photographed Showing PDA on His Birthday Amid Dating Rumors
It sure looks like Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik would like you to know they're back on. The former couple was photographed out in New York City with Bella Hadid and Gigi's brother's girlfriend Dua Lipa last night. The two matched in mint green, Gigi held onto Zayn's arm, and paparazzi caught the PDA moment. Zayn's birthday is today, so the gang was out ahead of time to celebrate.
It comes after Gigi fueled dating rumors at the end of December when she posted an Instagram Story of herself cooking a recipe from Zayn's mother and tagged her in the post. At the end of November, E! reported that Gigi and Zayn, both single, were talking again. Reconciliation didn't seem likely then, but time can change a lot.
One source explained that Hadid "has always had a soft spot for Zayn and they have a lot of history together. They went through a phase where they took time apart and weren't communicating at all, but they have been in touch recently. She is supportive of him. They chat here and there but it's been casual."
A source cautioned E! then that "they are definitely not getting back together but are on good terms right now."
Gigi and Zayn first started dating at the end of 2015. In March 2018, they announced their first breakup, sharing statements on Twitter praising the other and expressing their intent to continue being friends. But a month later, they were photographed kissing in New York City. They kept their rekindled relationship much more private, keeping traces of it on their social media only. In January 2019, multiple outlets reported they ended their romance a second time. “They could get back together, but it’s over for now," Us Weekly's source said at the time.
Zayn was still vocal about his feelings for Gigi as recently as March 2019, when he tweeted to her that he loved her. The two didn't reconcile then, and Gigi went on to date Tyler Cameron briefly this summer.
In August, a source told Us during Gigi's fling with Tyler that Zayn “has been sad about their breakup and was very sad after their breakup." That source said those around Gigi were happy she and Zayn weren't getting back together then: "Everyone around Gigi is very supportive of her moving on. It was not a good move for Gigi and Zayn to be around each other. It wasn’t a healthy situation for her."
Gigi and Tyler ended their relationship in the fall. Months after, E!'s November report that Gigi and Zayn were talking again came out, and here we are now.
