After six years of making up and breaking up, Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik have reportedly ended their relationship. The former couple's split comes in the wake of an alleged altercation between Zayn and Gigi's mom Yolanda Hadid. According to documents reviewed by ELLE.com, Zayn pled no contest to four charges of harassment against Gigi and Yolanda on October 28, 2021. Zayn and Gigi have both spoken out about the reports, but now, new details have emerged about their supposedly "toxic" relationship.

According to People, a friend of Zayn's said, "it was a super toxic relationship." The source later claimed that while the couple's relationship is on the rocks, they're working on co-parenting their one-year-old daughter Khai. "Zayn's an amazing dad, and Gigi has said so. They are not fighting," the source told People. "They are actively and amicably working to find the best way to co-parent now. Yolanda is inserting herself into a situation that does not involve her," the source continued.

A family friend of Gigi reportedly told People, "Zayn has a complicated personality. It's been hard at times for Gigi to live with him." The family friend added, "They are both good parents, though. They co-parent." Touching on Yolanda's involvement with the couple, the family friend continued, "Yolanda is, of course, very protective of Gigi. She wants the best for her daughter and grandchild. She has had some issues with Zayn. She thinks he could treat Gigi better. This is creating conflicts between Yolanda and Zayn."

Another source reportedly told Us that "it’s much better that they have separated. Gigi and Zayn had a very destructive relationship when they were together romantically. Gigi stands by Zayn’s ability to co-parent well."

E! News reports that the couple's breakup is final after a source claimed the couple "are definitely split for good" and have been so "for weeks now." Gigi is said to be "very distraught over the situation that happened."

Zayn pled no contest to four charges against Yolanda and Gigi. According to TMZ, Zayn alleged called Yolanda a "f***ing Dutch slut,' [and] ordered her to 'say away from [my] f***ing daughter'" among other verbal abuses at Gigi and Zayn's Pennsylvania home on September 29.

According to the media outlet's reviewed court documents, Zayn is accused of shoving "her [Yolanda] into a dresser causing mental anguish and physical pain. The singer addressed those claims in a statement. He told TMZ, "I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid, and for the sake of my daughter, I decline to give any further details, and I hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private."

Based on reports from sources, TMZ claims Zayn's charge against Gigi stems from a phone conversation he had after his incident with Yolanda. According to court docs reviewed by TMZ, Zayne screamed at Gigi, urging her to "strap on some f***ing balls and defend your partner against your f***ing mother in my house."

Zayn released a statement on Twitter explaining his decision to plead no contest.

Gigi spoke out through her rep, who told E! News, "Gigi is solely focused on the best for Khai. She asks for privacy during this time."
